Bolognese

The Bolognese is one of the most favorite, small dog breeds. According to the FCI the Bolognese is a companion and toy dog, section 1 Bichons. But it is not only a companion dog, but also a luxury dog.
It is also called the Bichon Bolognese, or some people also call this breed "the snow flake".
The Bolognese is not just a beautiful dog, which can win a lot of shows. It is also a perfect family dog, which loves children.

Origins of Breed

Its origin is in Italy, especially the Balearic Islands. Its domestic is principally in Bologna. Thus he got its name from. It is a nobel dog breed, which is very related to breeds like Maltese, Bichon Frise, Havanese, Coton de Tulear and the Petit chien lion.
In the past this dog often was a present for the Royals. For example Catherine the Great got a Bolognese for present. The Royals said, that a Bolognese is a present, which you can make even to emperors.
Bichon means lap dog, in French "bichomer" means to coddle somebody or something.
This dog breed is prevalented especially in Italy and France.
